Attack in London
5 June 2017
The Management and staff of the European Patent Office have been deeply shocked by news of the horrific attack that took place in the London Bridge and Borough Market area of London on Saturday evening. The European Patent Office strongly condemns this appalling act of hatred.
As an international organisation, we believe in an open and inclusive society based on the fundamental principles of freedom, equality, justice and tolerance. Such attacks will never be able to destroy these principles.
We express our firm solidarity with the people of the United Kingdom and our deepest sympathy goes to the victims and the many wounded of this dreadful attack, as well as their families, relatives and friends.
As a symbol of our solidarity with the United Kingdom and the British people, and out of respect for the victims, the flags in front of our buildings are flying at half-mast.
