The Centre for Intellectual Property Studies (CEIPI) has elected EPO President Benoît Battistelli as Chair of its Administrative Council.
Founded by Strasbourg University in 1963, the CEIPI focuses on training intellectual property specialists, in particular, in preparation for the European Qualifying Exam.
Speaking on his appointment, Mr Battistelli said: “I am delighted and honoured to have been elected to this post. We live in a knowledge-based economy, so the training provided by the CEIPI for intellectual property specialists is an essential task and vital contribution to Europe’s excellence in IP.”
Mr Battistelli’s election was announced on 28 November 2017, and his mandate will be for a three-year term. He succeeds António Campinos, Executive Director of the European Union Intellectual Property Office, who has chaired the Council since 2013. Former holders of the position also include the EPO’s first president, Bob van Benthem, and also Ingo Kober, who was appointed to the position in 2007.
