The current global pandemic merely underscores the need to find a workable solution to the challenge of ensuring innovation and access to medicines on a global scale – and the value of a forum focused on that topic. Texas A&M University School of Law took the step and is launching a new blog and associated website www.TradeRxReport.com, which explores questions of access to affordable medicines and health care that arise at the intersection of intellectual property law and international trade.
The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) Boards of Appeal gave their decision concerning oral proceedings by video conference. It was decided, inter alia, that oral proceedings before the Boards of Appeal may be held either in person on the premises of the EUIPO or by video conference, such being at the sole election of the competent Board of Appeal. The COVID-19 pandemic appears to have fueled an increase in cybercrime. This is also true for cybersquatting cases filed with WIPO’s Arbitration and Mediation Center, which has clocked a steady increase as compared with the same period last year. WIPO has continued to provide its full domain name dispute resolution services. Such filing now also includes disputes concerning COVID-19 related domain names.
