Swedish Anti-Counterfeiting Group’s (SACG) webinar on IPR protection programs and initiatives holds on 15 February 2024 at 12:00 – 13:00 CET. The webinar is on Alibaba’s IPR protection programs and initiatives and the speaker will be Mr. Claudio Bergonzi, Director of IP enforcement at Alibaba International. ECTA Round Table on Evidence before the EUIPO
Annual Conference of the European Policy for Intellectual Property (EPIP) Association
The 19th Annual Conference of the European Policy for Intellectual Property (EPIP) Association, will take place at Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna (Pisa, Italy) from 11 to 13 September 2024. This year’s overarching theme is “Intellectual Property and the Future of the Data Economy”. The EPIP Association has issued the Call for papers and welcomes submissions on a wide range of different leading themes and topics, in all fields of IP. In addition to the general call, EPIP 2024 hosts 3 special sessions and 2 WIPO-sponsored sessions open to submissions, and accepts proposals for themed panels.

The IPKat Team was extremely saddened to receive news of the untimely passing of Professor Dan L. Burk. Professor Burk was Distinguished and Chancellor’s Professor of Law at the University of California, Irvine School of Law. According to the in memoriam by the University of California, Professor Burk leaves behind “a profound and worldwide legacy on issues related to high technology, including the areas of patent, copyright, electronic commerce, and biotechnology law. Our hearts go out to his family, his wife, Laurie Burk, his daughter, Rayne Burk, and all those who had the good fortune to know him, including the students he inspired. Burk’s extraordinary impact through his prolific scholarship and academic accomplishments, the founding of UCI Law, and his mentorship of UCI Law students and alumni — as well as intellectual property scholars and lawyers across the world — will live on”.
An event to celebrate Professor Burk’s scholarly and other contributions to the legal academy holds today (9 February 2024) at University of California, Irvine School of Law from 9:30-5:30 PST. A memorial service celebrating Professor Burk’s life and contributions to the legal community will be announced later.
