Events
On 19 September, the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and the Community Plant Variety Office (CPVO) are celebrating their 30th anniversary by holding a joint seminar in Alicante and online. The event will cover all the recent hot topics, such as the copyright protection for outputs of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) and the reform of designs and geographical indications (GI) laws. Registrations are free and are still open until the 9th of September. And while you are planning a trip to Alicante, save 28 and 29 January 2025 for a Geographical Indications Conference, jointly organised by the EUIPO and the European Commission. This GI-loving Kat is already marking her calendar!
On 23 September, Marques, in cooperation with Stockholm University and the Swedish Anti-Counterfeiting Group, is organising a training “From Strategy to Practice – Theoretical and Practical Aspects of IP Law”. Participation is possible both on-site and online and registrations are open until 18 September.
On 24 September, the Copyright Clearance Center is holding a webinar on “AI and Copyright: Essential Information for Global, Cross-Border Business”. A panel of experts from academia and private sector will cover the most relevant issues surrounding AI and copyright.

The European Commission has opened a public consultation on the communication, promotion, and the international dimension of the new EU regime on craft and industrial GIs. The consultation is open until 10 October.
