Katfriend Angela Daly (University of Dundee) commented on the UK consultation on copyright and AI. The consultation aims to strike a balance between the creative industries and the AI sector, aligning with the UK’s goal of becoming a global leader in AI. Our Katfriend argues that the UK requires a more robust regulatory framework that fully addresses training data for AI and that ensuring compliance with the EU on certain aspects would be a pragmatic approach.
Geographical Indications
Jocelyn Bosse considered the recently translated English version of the Greek Council of State’s decision on the coexistence of geographical indications and plant variety names. The Council of State ruled that the name “Kalamata” could be used for a specific variety of table olives despite being produced outside of the area of the Protected Designation of Origin for “Olive of Kalamata”.
