OxFirst – “The Influence of Women in IP: Women and the Unified Patent Court” – 28 April 2022, online

OxFirst will host an online event on 28 April 2022 from 4:00pm to 5:00pm CEST to discuss the role and influence women will have in the game-changing Unified Patent Court. The event shall tackle the use of gender-neutral language in decisions, potential priority for the selection process and other relevant topics. Registration can be made on the event’s website.

UCL Institute of Brand and Innovation Law (IBIL) – “Naughty Trade Marks and Greedy Owners” – 28 April 2022, London, UK and online

IBIL will hold the events “Naughty Trade Mark and Greedy Owners” on 28 April 2022 from 7:00pm – 8:30pm (CEST) to shed light on the extent to which ethical values do – and should – shape the nature and scope of trade mark protection. Origin GI – “Geographical Indications in Africa: Launch of AfrIPI’s manual” – 3 May 2022, online

On 3 May, from 3:00pm to 4:30pm CET (Geneva), oriGIn and the Africa Intellectual Property Rights and Innovation Project (AfrIPI) will organize the event “Geographical Indications in Africa: Launch of AfrIPI’s manual” to present the Manual for Geographical Indications in Africa recently published by AfrIPI, with the contribution of oriGIn. By analyzing the progress so far made in the field of GIs in Africa as well as the remaining challenges to address (mainly concerning the establishment of groups and control systems), the manual offers local and international stakeholders a practical tool to assist in the implementation of the Continental Strategy for Geographical Indications in Africa (2018-2023), as well as contribute to the sustainable development of African communities. Amicuria – “EU copyright after the DSM Directive 2019/790 and the CJEU decision in C-401/19” – 5 May 2022, Court of Justice of the European Union, Luxembourg

Amicuria will hold an in-person event on 5 May 2022 at the Court of Justice of the European Union in Luxembourg starting at 12:00pm to discuss the impact of the DSM Directive and CJEU’s decision in case C-401/19 – the Polish challenge to article 17 of the DSM Directive. QMIPRI Annual Conference 2022: “Access to Intellectual Property in New and Emerging Technologies” – 9-10 June 2022, London, UK

The Queen Mary Intellectual Property Research Institute, in collaboration with the Centre for Commercial Law Studies, will be held, in person, on 9-10 June 2022, at The Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn (Ashworth Centre), London. UIC Center for IP, Information & Privacy Law – 13th Annual Ethics in the Practice of IP Law Seminar – 10 June 2022, online

The 13th Annual Ethics in Practice of IP Law Seminar will take place on 10 June 2022, from 6:45pm to 10:45pm (CEST), an in-depth program that covers a variety of topics on ethics and professionalism of relevance to IP lawyers.
