4IP council is organising a webinar session titled “SMEs and patent holdouts: how European SMEs fight back”, dedicated to European SMEs and startups interested in the opportunity that the Chinese market can bring to their businesses. GIs Workshop

The Institute for Information Law at the University of Amsterdam is organising a seminar on the new legislation on geographical indications (GIs). Panel discussion: AI and copyright

UCL’s Institute of Brand and Innovation Law will hold a panel discussion tackling the complexities of copyright law in the context of AI-generated content. The event, titled “Copyright and Generative AI: Putting input issues under the spotlight”, will be held on March 20, 2024 in London and live streamed. For details, click here

WIPO International Conference on Intellectual Property and Development

WIPO is organising an international conference on “IP and Innovation for Sustainable Agriculture” on April 24, 2023 in Geneva and online. The aim of the event is to discuss the importance of innovation for sustainable agriculture and how IP tools can support it. More details are available here.

PhD Summer School on AI and Law

The University of Tübingen (Germany) is organising a PhD Summer School in Artificial Intelligence and EU Law on May 13-17, 2024. Importantly, the travel and accommodation expenses will be covered for all participants. More information, including the details of the application process (deadline for which is set for January 31, 2024) is available here

Conference: Framing IP Rights in Legal, Economic, and Cultural Settings

Swansea Law School, Institute of International Shipping and Trade Law is organising a conference on IP law, reflecting on the centrality of IP in shaping innovation, creativity, and economic development, and seeking to look closely at the impact of IP on law and society. The event will take place on June 12-13, 2024. The organisers are currently accepting proposals for papers, until February 15, 2024. More information and submission details are available here.

Fellowship at WIPO

The WIPO Development Agenda Coordination Division offers a fellowship position for up to 12 months (with a possibility of 1 extension). The Fellow will contribute to the implementation of the Development Agenda’s Project: “The Use of Intellectual Property in Developing Countries in Creative Industries in the Digital Era”. More information, i.e. the location, stipend and details of the opportunity can be found here

Research Technician – Privacy Policy Analyst 

The Centre for Secure Information Technologies at Queen’s University Belfast is currently seeking to appoint an exceptional candidate to the post of Research Technician to be part of the multidisciplinary research team working on the technology horizon scanning ‘Shaping the Metaverse’ project. IP survey results

The Center for Intellectual Property Understanding has shared results of its survey, intended to measure the IP community’s attitude toward principles like IP’s support towards innovation, creative expression and the economy, and how best to convey them. A total of 213 persons responded, including inventors IP lawyers, educators and policymakers. Survey’s findings, which among other, show respondents strong agreement on the value of IP rights can be found here.
