Conferences
It is with regret that MARQUES has decided to cancel the 34th Annual Conference, due to be held in Stockholm, Sweden, from 22 to 25 September 2020. The 2021 Annual Conference will be held in The Hague, The Netherlands, from 14 to 17 September. More information is available here.

CEIPI is pleased to announce the 3rd edition of the Advanced Training Program on “Artificial Intelligence and Intellectual Property”. The training will take place in Strasbourg from 1 to 3 October 2020. More information is available here.

Other
One of the biggest winners of the current pandemic seems to be the former Silicon Valley startup Zoom. The company’s success can be attributed to a number of factors – arguably including its software’s highly popular virtual-background feature. The virtual-background feature includes, inter alia, iconic stills from movie sets. This give rise to whether use of these virtual-backgrounds may constitute an infringement of copyright. SpicyIP is proud to announce the first edition of the Shamnad Basheer Essay Competition on Intellectual Property Law. For its first edition, the competition will be open to students currently enrolled in any LLB program (or its equivalent – meaning students enrolled in J.D. programs can take part) across the world.
